Who we are

This website, lazarex.africa, is run by LazareX (“we”, “us”), a technology studio that builds software, AI and business systems and delivers robotics and STEM education. We are the controller of the personal information described in this policy.

If you have a question about this policy or your information, email info@lazarex.africa.

Information we collect

Project enquiries. When you use our contact form we collect what you enter: your name, email address, phone or WhatsApp number, organisation and organisation type, the service you’re interested in, budget range, timeline, your message and how you heard about us. We also record the time you gave consent and, if you arrived through a tagged link, its campaign (UTM) details.

Newsletter. If you subscribe we collect your email address (and your name, if you give it), where on the site you subscribed, and, when you confirm, the time and the IP address used, so we can show that you consented.

Anti-spam checks. Our forms include a hidden field and Cloudflare Turnstile, which assesses whether a submission comes from a person. Turnstile receives technical signals from your browser for that purpose.

Server logs. Like most websites, our hosting provider keeps standard logs (such as IP address, browser type, pages requested and time) to operate and secure the site.

We do not ask for payment details, government identifiers or other sensitive information through this site, and we ask that you don’t send any in your message.

How we use it and why

To respond to your enquiry, discuss and deliver the work you asked about, and keep a record of our conversations. We do this because you asked us to, and so we can take steps toward an agreement with you.

To send the newsletter you subscribed to. We do this with your consent, which you can withdraw at any time: every email contains an unsubscribe link that works immediately.

To keep the site secure, prevent spam and abuse, and fix faults. We do this because it is necessary to run a safe website.

To meet legal obligations and to establish or defend legal claims.

We do not sell your personal information, we do not share it for others’ marketing, and we do not use it for advertising or profiling.

Who we share it with

We share information only with providers that help us run the site, and only what they need: our web hosting provider, which stores the website, our database and the mailboxes we send from; our email delivery service, which transmits the messages we send you; and Cloudflare, which provides Turnstile.

These providers act on our behalf and may process information in countries other than yours, including outside Africa. Where we can, we choose providers with appropriate safeguards for personal information.

We may also disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect our rights, our users or the public. If our business is ever transferred to another organisation, your information may transfer with it, and this policy would continue to apply.

Cookies and similar technologies

We don’t use advertising, tracking or analytics cookies. Cloudflare Turnstile may set a strictly necessary cookie or use browser storage when you use a form, to protect it from spam. We also keep a few small, non-personal settings in your browser, for example whether the logo animation has already played during your visit.

If we add analytics or any non-essential cookies in future, we will update this policy and ask for your consent first where the law requires it.

How long we keep it

Enquiries: for as long as we need them to respond and manage any resulting work, and afterwards for a reasonable period for our records, then we delete them.

Newsletter: until you unsubscribe. After that we keep only the minimum needed to make sure we don’t email you again.

Email delivery logs: about 90 days. Routine backups of our systems are rolled over after a short period, so deleted information can remain in a backup briefly before it is overwritten.

Server logs: for the period set by our hosting provider, normally a few weeks.

How we protect it

The site and API are served over HTTPS. Access to our systems is limited to people who need it, our admin area requires a login, and our forms are rate-limited and protected against automated abuse. No system is completely secure, so we can’t guarantee absolute security, but we take reasonable steps and will tell you and the relevant authority if a breach affecting your information occurs, as the law requires.

Your rights

You can ask us to: confirm whether we hold personal information about you and give you a copy; correct information that is wrong; delete it; restrict or object to how we use it; or withdraw consent you gave us. Email info@lazarex.africa and we will respond within a reasonable time, normally within 30 days. We may need to verify your identity first.

These rights come from Zimbabwe’s Cyber and Data Protection Act [Chapter 12:07] and, for visitors in other countries, any data protection law that applies to you. If you are unhappy with how we handle your request you can complain to the data protection authority in your country; in Zimbabwe this is the Postal and Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (POTRAZ). We would appreciate the chance to put things right first.

Children

This website is aimed at organisations and adults. Our robotics and STEM programmes are arranged through schools and organisations, not through this site, and we don’t knowingly collect personal information from children through it. If you believe a child has sent us their information, email us and we will delete it.

Our site links to other websites, such as live client projects and social profiles. Their privacy practices are their own, and this policy doesn’t cover them.

Changes to this policy

If we change how we handle personal information, we will update this page and the date at the top. For significant changes affecting newsletter subscribers we will also tell you by email.
